Kuban Winemakers Won Prestigious Awards at the Decanter World Wine Awards-2021

The Decanter World Wine Awards was held in London. 10 wineries of the Krasnodar Region presented their products there.

A commission of 170 experts examined over 18,000 wine brands from 56 countries.

Kuban wines have won 39 awards. Including platinum and gold in their assets. The highest grades – 97 out of 100 points – were given to the Shumrinka private winery. It took the second platinum in the entire history of Russia’s participation in the competition. The Sauk-Dere winery from the Crimean Region took gold. 10 medals were won by sparkling and still wines from the Abrau Durso collection.

Last year, 37% of all Russian grapes were harvested in Kuban, 45% of all Russian wine, and 37% of champagne were produced. Over the past five years, the Krasnodar Region has allocated 3.3 billion rubles for the development of viticulture and winemaking.

The Decanter World Wine Awards has been held annually in London for 18 years. The jury members categorize the wine brands by region, grape variety, and price. At the same time, during the tasting, they do not know the manufacturer and brand name. Awards are assigned according to a 100-point grading system.
